Bulverde is located in Comal County, Texas just north of San Antonio. The Population in 2014 was 4,847. The population has grown to 5,184 in 2018.
Bulverde is on the Cibolo Creek about 20 miles west of New Braunfels. It was settled in 1850 and was named after Anton Pieper. The town had a population of under 100 residents until the 1960's: at that time the population has fallen below 30. There were five schools which were combined with the Bulverde school district which had an enrollment of of about 50 students in 1947. In recent years, new residential developments have been built near Bulverde and this area has grown significantly. Many of the residents drive to the San Antonio area for work each day.
